2016 Artist Of The Month is Kasandra Vargas, a 16 year old junior at Lincoln High School. Ms. Vargas is currently in AP Art. She’s been drawing since she was a little girl. Vargas mentioned “Me and my sister shared a room together so we can have extra room to play in. Then one day me and my sister got a box of crayons and we just started drawing on the walls.” Vargas been practicing art since 7th grade and ever since she’s been practicing. Vargas lately created a piece that took 2-3 weeks called “Orca”- she was inspired by their strong bond with family and their own sense of mind. The material Kasandra used to create this amazing art piece is oil pastal.

Vargas believes the art program at Lincoln is great because she feels like there’s many of opportunities to learn the elements of art. Lion Tales asked Vargas to describe in a few words about the art program. Vargas said “It’s relaxing and people have creative vibes but you can also feel sense of crazy because people stress over to finish their art piece before their deadlines.”

If you want to see this art piece in person, it’s located on the main floor in the main building.
