Five landmarks of San Jose (Lincoln Lion Tales/ Noel Ramirez)

On a weekend when you are bored at home you sometimes forget that there are many fun places to go in San Jose. Here is a list of fun places to go in San Jose for something different to get you out of the house.

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum This Museum is so close to our school campus, that beautiful white building on park avenue. On the weekends they are open from 10am-6pm. General admission is $9 but if you have any brothers or sisters under five they get in for free. The museum is a great place for the whole family to enjoy.

A cool part of the museum aside from all the artifacts is the planetarium shows. There are shows every day and to additional shows on the weekends. Everyday at two the space film Journey to the Stars  takes the guests though the life cycle of stars. Saturdays at 3:30 pm Cosmic Collisions plays taking you through the evolution of the universe. Sundays at 3:30 pm playing is the show 3D Sun shows pictures from NASA’s pictures of the sun.

Winchester Mystery House This historic building located across the street from Santana Row is actually both a piece of San Jose history and a tourist trap. The house is open everyday 9am-5pm. The price range is from $34-$44 , and also children under 5 years old are not able to get in just for safety concerns. Duration will be up to 2 ½ hours . The Winchester Mystery House is a good place for a family to enjoy and have a good and fun time.

Also you could add tours for an extra price of $26-$36 for a duration of 1 hour and 5 minutes. All of the tours are a great and exciting time but one of the most popular one is the Mansion Tour you get to explore 110 out of 160 rooms of the house also in this tour you will find a window built into the floor, staircases leading to nowhere, a chimney that rises 4 floors, doors that open onto blank walls , and upside down post. So I recommend this place if you want to go on a trip with your family or either just either friends this place is exciting for everybody!

Municipal Rose Garden

The Rose Garden is just as beautiful as the name itself covered in glamorous and ravishing roses with paths that lead to a remarkable fountain. Doors will open at 10am-9pm on Monday – Saturday and 11am-7pm on Sunday. There is also a field next to the garden for people to play a kind of sport or fly a kite or just a fun day with the family .

The garden contains 180+ rose varieties and with about 3,500 plantings that will typically start blooming during the months of April-November in a colorful 5.5 acre garden. This garden is just one of the most attractive things in the world of its kind bringing thousands of visitors every year.

 The Tech Museum Of Innovation

The museum of innovation is a really exciting place especially for people who love science. General admission for Museum galleries for adults is $24 and students/seniors(65 or older) get in for 19$ and child (3-17) pay $19 .The Tech opens daily from 10am-5pm. There is also a IMAX theater there for additional prices.

The museum actually just opened a new exhibit for Bio Design , this exhibit teaches the fields of synthetic biology, bioengineering, biological design and DIY biology. This tech is also the first and only museum in the country with a space dedicated to biotinkering and the fields of biology.

Guadalupe River Trail

This trial is a beautiful 11 mile long pedestrian and bike trail divided into two segments. The first segment is the shorter of the two it runs upstream along the Guadalupe River through the Almaden Valley Neighborhood and very close to Westfield Oakridge mall. The upper trail also connects to three other trail systems

The lower Guadalupe River trail runs by a variety of fun places to stop and visit along the way. It passes a few city parks such as Children’s Discovery park and Arena Green. It also passes by the SAP center and even alongside Levi’s stadium. This is a great activity to get out and see San Jose from a different perspective crossing under highway fly overs. It also gives the opportunity to find other activities in the city.
