Play Review: “How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying”

March 24 was opening night of the play “How to Succeed in business with out really trying.” With seven weeks of preparation for the play, the band and the performers opened up in the Black Box Theater singing and dancing on opening night Thursday, March 24.

Mr. Manthe, the director of the play, said “It was much better than most school’s closing nights.” Students, in preparation for the performance, began rehearsal in January. The performers had little time to practice in the theater with the props and buildings to work with.

Mr. Manthe said, of the student performers, that “They did a great job. This is one of the hardest musicals we’ve produced in a long while. It has a lot of material in various styles, so it took some studying to prefect it.” On opening night, the play was successful, but the performers were, at times, still learning their roles. For one of the actors, Christopher Raynes he says “The hardest part was remembering the line and the times to go out on stage.”

Felling better after opening night, the performers lost most of their nervousness getting used to their lines and their blocking. This week, come and watch Lincoln students in the Theater this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday March 31- April 2 in the play “How to Succeed in business without even trying.”
