Fun in the Sun: Playlist
It’s only spring, but it sure feels hot like summer! In light of the hot weather, here’s a playlist that might make you feel like the vacation has already started.
- Surfin Usa– Beach Boys
A classic beach boys song, doesn’t it remind you of Santa Cruz and sunburns?
- Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini– Brian Hyland
Released in the summer of 1960, the song made bikini sales skyrocket, in a time when bikinis were seen as too revealing.
- Summer love– Justin Timberlake
Oh summer, isn’t it wonderful? It’s easy to fall in love with the summer, and during the summer.
- California Gurls– Katy Perry
Katy Perry supposedly made this song as an answer to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ song “Empire State of Mind”, which is about New York. Both Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg were born and raised in California and made the song as an ode to the state.
- Summertime– Will Smith
Yes, Will Smith was a rapper. Some people didn’t know that, as did I. Here’s a summer themed song from him and DJ Jazzy, or better known as Jazz from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air T.V. show.
- Misirlou– Pulp Fiction Version (Dick Dale)
The song is a traditional song from the Eastern Mediterranean. Dick Dale’s surfer rock version gained popularity worldwide and his since then been covered by artists like the Black Eyed Peas and for movie soundtrack of Pulp Fiction.
It may be hot, but hopefully these cool songs help you chill-out in the warm weather and forget about the stress of upcoming tests or finals.
