Video: Lincoln Graduation 2016 Was Fire (it was 90 degrees)

Abraham Lincoln High School celebrates their graduation at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden annually — it has been their tradition for decades.

This year, hundreds of parents, family friends, and members of the community attended the event on Wednesday, June 1, with temperatures surpassing 90 degrees.

Those who attended the event either indulged in the shade of the trees or endured the heat of the sun.

The commencement began with Lincoln’s principal, Matthew Hewitson acknowledging our college board administrators by name.

To commence the graduation, Jordan Summers introduced Ryan Ruffing and Luis Aguilar. Ryan read his one minute speech triumphantly, and Luis did a translation of that speech in Spanish. Both speeches received a grand applause.

The Estetica choir group performed the National Anthem beside the stage, and the band performed patriotic and cliché-graduation tunes.

Spanish teachers Nuno Luz and Iliana Perez announced the graduates’ names, shifting positions for each row of students: there were eight rows.

One by one, as the graduates walked across the stage to receive their diplomas, each displayed their excitement through different facials and actions. Some twirled, dabbed, danced or walked calmly towards their future.

Good luck to all 2016 graduates on their college expeditions, careers, and lives!
