Servin’ Up Victory: Lions Take on CCS Badminton Championships
Lincoln’s badminton team has had a fantastic year, and several athletes will be representing the Lions at CCS Championships this weekend. Six athletes from the team have demonstrated incredible skill in the sport, and they hope their talents will bring them victory in the upcoming tournament.
Seniors Brennan Nguyen and Anna Do had an incredible season, placing second overall in the girls doubles bracket. In the boys singles category, junior Toan Nguyen and freshman Justo Oppus placed second and third, respectively.
Dynamic duo Andrew Lee and Andrae Ladores are also among the many star athletes who will be competing on the 12th and 13th, for a shot at the CCS title. These players hope to repeat their success at C-leagues and take home the first-place title for Lincoln.
“Our coach runs some drills and then after about an hour and a half of that, then we play games against our coaches. We just repeat that everyday,” said Lee.
A rigorous training schedule is followed by Lee and Ladores, who even train outside of school to maintain their abilities. This pair often frequents the Bintang Badminton Courts in Campbell and Milpitas to play matches.
“Sometimes on the weekend we’ll just go to Bintang and play games for five hours.”
This weekend, Lee and Ladores will rep Lincoln at Independence High School. Remember to wish these badminton players, along with the rest of the team, good luck on their championship this weekend!
