Boys’ Basketball Season Opener
JV Boys Basketball:
The Lincoln JV Boys basketball team took on the Prospect team for their first league game on Wednesday, January 8th, in the evening. Prospect walked into the gym angry and ready to leave with the win. The JV boys took a hard loss of 56-38.
In the first half of the game, Lincoln’s boys came out with 15-33. The top scorers on the Lincoln side were #5 Tobias Veyna and #33 Adrian Fromano.
The top scorers on the Prospect side were Voludya K. #23, and Joey M.
Prospect played rough coming out with 14 fouls and 9 on the Lincoln side. The second half of the game the Lincoln boys came out fighting to catch up to Prospect.
Veyna and Marco Alvarez came out making buckets and amping up their defense. Prospect came out on top and took the win.
The Lincoln boys walked out with their first loss of the season, leaving their record to be 0-1.
Varsity Boys Basketball:
Wednesday night was the season opener for the Varsity Boys basketball team as well. Both Lincoln and Prospect came into the gym ready to put on a show for the crowd.
Both sides of the Lincoln gym were filled, with Lincoln on one side of the bleachers and Prospect on the other.
Although Prospect left with the “W” by only a little lead of 3, Lincoln put out an intense vibe inside the gym walls.
With 50-47 being the final score, senior Kurt Lojera put on a good show, along with seniors Jesse Galvan and Dorian Romero.
After the first half of the game Lincoln left the gym for a short while, leaving the score at 26-19 with Prospect in the lead.
During the third quarter, the Lions came out and were able to score 32 while Prospect was still ahead with 42.
In the fourth and final quarter, Lincoln played hard and was able to catch up, only losing by 3 little points.
