Hispanic Heritage Month
On Friday, September 15th, 2017, students at Abraham Lincoln High School, danced as tribute to kick off the start for National Hispanic heritage month. The performances were really special because they united both students and staff to gather around the quad at lunch to watch their spectacular routine numbers.
The groups who performed were the beginning & intermediate Folklorico and the Xochitl dancers. The women wore many different colors of skirts and the men wore matching outfits that was topped of with some authentic sombreros. Many people thought that the performers were very well practiced and highly focused, as they matched every beat with the beautiful flow of their skirts. The dance performances were vibrant and alive.
Many of the students were applauding and cheering on the dancers as they performed. After all both dance performances, students crowded around to hear Lincoln’s very own Mariachi students perform. The lead singer of the group Fatima Pedrosa. She sang “Amor Eterno” with so much passion and emotion, which put an emphasis on the song’s meaning.
The crowd was blown away by both singers’ voices and the mariachi band’s spectacular performance. All students involved in this event had practiced hard, for weeks leading up to their performances. The hard work, of everyone involved, paid off tremendously because the event was breathtaking; not only did the viewers enjoy the show, but the performers enjoyed it as well.
