Lions Defeat Mustangs After 25 Year Drought

Joe Garza III, Reporter

“I woke up with a little smile on my face the next morning,” Coach Kevin Collins said, “my breakfast tasted better, my lunch tasted better, and my dinner tasted better.” Coach Collins has been coaching with the Lincoln Lions for 25 seasons. While Lincoln did not play Pioneer every year Collins has been coaching, he was happy when Lincoln took their first win of this season.  He was happy because it was his first win against Pioneer after his 25 year stretch of coaching at Lincoln.

When asked about the upcoming game against the undefeated Westmont Warriors he said “If we can keep the momentum from our last game against Pioneer, I believe we have a high chance in winning against Westmont.”

Check out these tweets from last week’s historic victory:

#24 Bryan Pantoja scored first for the Lions, taking an early lead in the 1st quarter.

Later on, the Lions were able to get the ball back to #23 Gabe Flores for a rushing touchdown.
