FOOTBALL: Lions Fall at Home to Warriors

Joe Garza III, Reporter

The Lincoln Lions faced off against the undefeated Westmont Warriors on September 29th. Lincoln was able to keep it close until the end.

The game was a nail-biter. With 47.3 seconds left on the clock with Lincoln down by 1 point, the Lions were able to get themselves an onside kick. With #2 Gavin Kalama-Florence, QB for the Lions, on the field, the crowd roaring loud, and the team cheering on the crowd to help amplify their voices, Lincoln was one score away from victory.

As the clock ticked, Gavin ran out of the pocket and saw his receivers #24 Brian Pantoja and #11 Eyoel Yimer. Gavin threw it out to #24 Brian Pantoja who was covered well by the defense, and ended up throwing an interception. Westmont was able to recover the ball for a win over Lincoln with a score of 35-34.

Lion Tales caught up with Greg Medeiros, a Lincoln fan, and asked him his point of view on how the team played Friday night. “The team played as a unit,” he said, “thats how the team should play, everyone was in the game.”

While the team played as a unit, the fans took awhile to catch on. “Nobody got hyped up [in the stands] until the end” he said. “The team and fans need to be this hyped all game”
