December: It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The Holidays are known for its cold weather, food, celebrations, and music, and this December all of Lincoln Choirs, Orchestras, and Bands are going to host concerts.

 

Jazz

To kick off this December Lincoln’s Jazz Bands will be performing Tuesday December 5,2017 at 7:00 p.m. in Lincoln’s Black Box Theater. Jazz Lab will be playing some classic Christmas Songs such Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, etc. On top of that Jazz Lab will also be playing Sugar and Deep Pockets. Jazz I will be playing For Brothers, Sister Sadie, Caravan, Copycat, Naked Gun, Flugel Fancy, and other Holiday selections.

Choir

On Wednesday December 13,2017 during advisory Lincoln’s Chamber Chorale and Estetica will put on a special performance in Lincoln’s Black Box Theater. Both groups will be singing Christmas Pop tunes. If you want to hear more from them they will also have a concert at Lincoln Glen Church on Tuesday, December 12,2017 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Orchestra

On Wednesday, December 13,2017, Lincoln’s Orchestra groups will be playing at SJSU’s Music Hall at 7:00 p.m. Prelude will be playing Ukrainian Bell Carol, Jazzy Old St. Nick, and Christmas Canon. Following their performance Intermezzo will take the stage and play Boreas, Little Drummer Boy, Secret Agent Sugar Plum, and Santa Plays the Viola. Then Lincoln’s String group will play Swan Lake, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Wizards of Winter. Chamber will play Troika, In the Bleak Midwinter, and Holberg Suite, and to finish off the concert all of the orchestra groups will play Ode to Joy.

 

Bands

Then on Thursday December 14, 2017 Lincoln’s bands will be playing at SJSU’s Music Hall at 7:00 p.m. To start off the night Beginning Band will play some Holiday Classics, after which Concert Band will play Down by the Sally Gardens and December Triptych. Then Symphonic Band will play Renaissance Revel, 3 Ayres, and Carol of the Bells. Last but not least, the Wind Ensemble will be playing Canzon in Echo, The Hobbit, Children’s March, and Midnight Sleigh ride.

 

Mariachi/Xóchitl

Mariachi and Xóchitl will be hosting a two-day event, on Friday December 15,2017 and on Saturday December 16,2017 at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln’s Black Box Theater. Mariachi will be playing four songs: Abrázame, Se me olvidó otra vez, Si nos dejan, and La Cigara. In between Mariachi songs Xóchitl will be dancing.

If you want to pre-order your tickets checkout the Lincoln Performing Arts website. Tickets will also be available at the event, the prices are 5 dollars for students and 10 dollars for general admission.
