“Don’t Worry Darling” this was a good movie

Review: Don’t Worry Darling

The mind-bending movie of 2022 that many are gushing over was more outstanding than many had expected. The stars of the film are actress Florence Pugh, and pop star/now blooming actor, Harry Styles. “Don’t Worry Darling” a film directed by Olivia Wilde, is set in the 1950s and centered around housewife, Alice, and her husband, Jack, living a glamorous life., when she starts getting curious about the company her husband works at, she unfolds the unsettling secrets they’ve been hiding.

Between the vibrant colors and perfect life aesthetic, you’d think the movie would be all friendly and joyful. As the film starts off we see the life that the wives have in this community, called “Victory”. Their days consist of waking up to make their beds, cooking breakfast, putting together a lunch for their husbands for work, kissing them goodbye, coming back inside the house and cleaning, going out into the shopping area, doing ballet class, and repeating. They also have get-togethers with their neighbors (who are also their friends).

Alice, played by Florence Pugh, is the wife of Jack, played by Harry Styles. Before the movie came out, everyone was thrilled to learn that they would be in a film together and it definitely didn’t disappoint. They had amazing chemistry on the screen along with their acting in general. Having actors and actresses who are tremendous at portraying their emotions through a screen is always the best when watching a movie.

The movie definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat and constantly anticipating what was coming in the next scene. I found that there wasn’t ever a dull moment. There was even lovely camera production in this film, which for me is a big selling point when watching a movie. To me, camera work can either make or break a movie, depending on the storyline and how the camera work should be perceived.

As much as I enjoyed the movie, it seemed too easy to figure out the plot twist and what was going to happen by the end of the movie. It definitely could’ve been better by making the plot twist harder to figure out and possibly adding misdirects. The concept and story idea was brilliant, yet it had the potential to be so much more.

Overall, I’d rate this film a solid 7.5 out of 10. To break down how I scored it; with giving the acting a 9.5/10, the storyline a 7/10, and the camera production an 8/10. If you have yet to watch and experience the thrills of this movie, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
