Crimson. New local metal band.

Local San Jose Metal band Crimson played there first show on August 25th 2013. Crimson is joined with Benny Savage on lead vocals and bass, Brandon Kong on lead guitar, Jake Bergvall on drums, and there newest member Philip Cortez on rhythm guitar. Crimson started out with just Jake and Brandon jamming together. “I found out he played guitar and I was starting drumming so we decided to jam because we both liked metal,”  said Jake. After their old Bass player
quit Ben decided he wanted to play bass and sing as well.
The decision to play metal was no question for this band. “We all listen to it and it’s fun to play and has an awesome loyal fan base” said Brandon. “I always loved rock and roll, and my tastes just got heavier as I grew older. It’s music that I love, that I can appreciate a lot more than the mass produced garbage of the mainstream”  says Ben.

Even though Brandon had lessons only in classical music and Ben with only lessons in marching band and choir music, metal was still the top choice. With their heavy metal type vocals and thrash sounding guitars and drum styles, it’s hard to just say it’s just metal music. In the future, now with a rhythm guitarist, they plan on to write, record, and put out a demo CD by the end of this year. They are currently writing more original songs. During their first shows they played covers such as “Breaking the Law” by Judas Priest and “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica. By the end of this year, they plan to finish up their EP and start playing more shows around the Bay Area to build up a fan base. So if you’re in town and Crimson is playing, go check them out!
