Esther Dello Buono’s winning painting has been transferred onto a utility box in downtown San Jose.

A class of 2014 Lincoln graduate, Esther Dello Buono, won the 2014 Downtown Doors and Congressional Art Competition with her artwork, “Downtown San Jose.” The Downtown Doors is an art competition and outdoor exhibit made possible by the San Jose Downtown Foundation.

Esther’s artwork was painted onto a utility box located at Santa Clara and Market Streets, next to a bus stop.

Esther revealed to Lion Tales she had mixed emotions about her accomplishments. She recalled, “It was shocking, exciting, and relieving at the same time because I had set an extremely high goal for myself with that piece.”

When Esther sees her painting downtown, feelings of pride race through her mind. She mentioned, “Wow. I can’t believe I did that! I think the more I look back on the piece, the better it looks to me.”

The 2013-2014 school year claimed many great artists, such as Esther, and Lincoln is looking  forward to all the aspiring artists whose artwork will shine this coming school year.
