2015 Varsity Football Preview: How Will the Lions Fare This Season?

It’s that time of year again: Friday Night Lights! Our very own Lincoln Lions are currently preparing for the 2015 season under Coach Collins and company. After a 4-6 season and a nail-biting win at the Big Bone, players are excited to kickoff this upcoming season. Jerome Lee, 4-year fullback and linebacker, had this to say: “I’m extremely excited to start the season. It’s my last year here at Lincoln and I want to go out with a bang.”

As usual, our Lions will play 10 games this season. Unfortunately, they will only have 3 home games out of the 10. That means the team will have to travel as the road team for 70% of the season. Samuel Nowden, 3-year running back and linebacker who is looking to bounce back after a season-ending ACL injury, weighed in on how this will affect the team: “It’ll be tough winning games on the road. Most teams have losing streaks due to the lack of home games and not having home-field advantage at their disposal.”

Despite this disadvantage, our team will do its best to improve from the 4-6 record last season. The 2015 season will kickoff on September 11 with an away game at Santa Teresa at 7 p.m. Be sure to support our Lions and attend the start of an incredible season!
