Artist of the Month
For the month of February, Artist of the Month is featuring Senior student Kenia Carreon. Seventeen year old Kenia is currently in Ms. Zamora’s AP Art class. Kenia said “that art is the only thing that interested me,” when she was younger. She enjoys using watercolor and doing “traditional” art pieces, but loves experimenting in digital art media as well. Being involved with the arts since she was twelve and in middle school, she loves telling others about the amazing art program at Lincoln as well as recommending it to others. Although her talent in art is outstanding, Kenia only does personal art pieces for close family members and friends. She is not ready to show her artwork in the world, yet. This fear is not stopping her, she plans on continuing art in the future. Kenia said, when asked about her future in art, that “I can’t possibly imagine doing anything else.”
Kenia’s art piece above is a symbol of her emotions. She describes her piece as well as all her art pieces as symbolic of her feelings at the moment when she creates her art. The art piece has many different interpretations to people, which is exactly what Kenia strives for; she wants people to interpret it however they feel and let her know how it made them feel.
