Mexico Game at Levi’s Statium

The Mexican National Soccer team played against the National Chilean team on Sept. 6th. The game took place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Though the game started at 7pm, many of the fans arrived as early as 4 pm. There were 67,000 fans in attendance, nearly reaching the stadium’s 68,500-person limit. Most of the attendees were Mexico fans, but Chile had approximately 1,000 fans in the stands as well.

The Chilean team consisted of Bravo, Jara, Medel, Silva, Mena, Millar, Diaz, Isla, Vidal, Aranguiz and, last but not least, Alexis Sanchez.

Mexico was represented by Ochoa, Maza Rodriguez, H. “El Zorrillo” Herrera, Alanis, Ponce, M. Layun, Vazquez, Guardado, “El Hermoso” Peralta, and Giovani Dos Santos.

Chile nearly scored a goal in minute 17 of the game when Alexis Sanchez centered the ball and Arturo Vidal headed the ball towards the goal, but Mexico’s goalie blocked the ball in the last second. Mexico also had many shots at making a goal in minutes 35, 64, 67, and 81. The player of the match was Hector Herrera.

The game ended with a score of 0-0.  Mexico came very close to winning the game, but ultimately, it ended in a tie.
