Pet of the Week 1: Lady

IMG_6408“Here is a Maltese Poodle and her name is Lady, a rescue dog from Kansas. When she was young, her owners would abuse her and they also abandoned her; she’s very protective and paranoid about guys. Emalie gave us this photo from Halloween a couple years ago.  ‘She was dressed up as a squirrel,’ Emalie said.”

Pet of the Week 2: Nubi

(Juan Alcala / Lincoln Lion Tales)“Nubi here, enjoys wearing glasses, and gets jealous if you are giving someone a hug that doesn’t involve her. So she would go up to you, and scratch you until you give her your full attention. She is very playful and loves everyone. On days where someone in Juan’s house is sick, she snuggles up to the sick person and comforts them as much as possible. Juan just has to say that she is, quite simply, ‘a sweetheart’.”

Pet of the Week 3: Oso

(Natalie Guevara/ Lincoln lion tales) )“He has taken a liking  to cookies and Chinese food, and especially  orange chicken. His tail is very fluffy and he has beautiful blue eyes. He is also very warm. Here’s a  crazy fact: he eats his food from his paw!  He first scoops the food with his claws then eats it, then he washes his paws with his drinking water, so Natalie and her family have to put two bowls of water. He is a very clean kitty.”

Pet Team of the Week 4: Tigger & Lady

Lady and Tiggr (LeiLina Castillo/Lion Tales )
Lady and Tiggr (LeiLina Castillo/Lion Tales )

“A dog and a cat: Lady, the dog, is a Rhodesian Ridgeback crossed with a Red Nose Pit Bull, while her best friend is a feline named Tigger, which reminds me of the Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.  Every night, Tigger jumps up on the bed and gives Lady  goodnight kisses and cuddles up to her to get some warmth as she sleeps.”

Pet of the Week 5: Leela

(Gabriella Hernandez/ Lion Tales)
(Gabriella Hernandez/ Lion Tales)

“Leela likes a lot of things such as wearing clothes and cuddling with her family for love. She also likes going on walks especially to the park, she enjoys the company of other dogs but mostly from puppies! Like most K9’s she’s very friendly with people and little kids but she hates taking pictures, She likes watching TV. Her favorite food is chicken, and she likes going to Doggy Daycare. She is a little dog with big love for her family.”

Pet of the Week 6: Roscoe

Roscoe (Melissa /Lion Tales) “Roscoe is 5 years old but still acts like a big baby. If he sees you playing with bubbles, he will go and play with you, and most likely eat your bubbles. He really likes sleeping all day, but will sit on your lap! So if you see Roscoe, don’t sit down, unless you want an 80 pound dog charging at you just to sit on your lap. He also really loves going out for walks and to cuddle with people. He is just really lazy dog, but caring and joyful, like a baby.”

Pet of the Week 7: Daisha

Why so serious? (Monica Todd / for Lion Tales)

“Daisha is a ten-year old Seal Point Siamese cat. She is very affectionate and intelligent, and has bonded strongly to her new human ‘parents’ (more like servants).  However, she does not like others to pet her.  She is extremely vocal, with a loud, low-pitched voice, and she is quite persistent in demanding attention. This often means that around 2:30 am, she will jump up on the bed, dance across her owners legs, jump back on the floor with a thud, before prancing down the hallway to sit and wait by her bowl, meowing for a snack.   This nightly practice has given her parents the idea of what it might be like to get up in the middle of the night to tend to the needs of an infant.”

Pets of the Week 8: Boo & Mr. T

Mr. T watching T.V ( Mary Jennison / for Lion Tales)

“Boo(right) was found as kitten on the time of the month that matches his name, October. Miss Jennison said that Boo isn’t a very clean cat.  He just chills and hangs back without caring about his hygiene. Boo is also a street cat who may or may not have won a bunch of fights.  Who knows? Ms. Jennison speculates that he may have even fought a raccoon or two. He’s got the scars to prove it, Ms. Jennison said. She also mentioned ‘He has used up two of his nine lives since we moved to the east foothills.’ The last attack sentenced him to life as an indoor cat. As for Mr. T (left), he’s a big cat who is a football “FANATIC,” she mentioned, that he will go for any team, except the Seahawks.  He doesn’t like them. He probably saw them during Supper Bowl XLIX, or he doesn’t like them in general, we don’t know. He is an 11 year old cat who looks like he’s mini panther.”

Pet of the Week 9: Tank

Tank being held. ( Katie Crane /Lion Tales)
Tank, as a puppy, being held. ( Katie Crane /Lion Tales)

“With his big mean and monstrous look, he, actually, is a sweetheart with humans, but with dogs it’s another story. One time, when Katie and Tank were at the dog park, a dog fight broke out and it was total chaos; dog after dog were fighting each other. As for Tank, he came back with a piece of another dogs ear! I sure do feel bad for that dog who went back home missing a piece of an ear.”

Pet of the Week 10: Lucky

Lucky and his toy .(Salvador / Lion Tales)

“This week’s pet is Salvador’s dog Lucky. Salvador is a reporter here at Lion Tales. Lucky is an outdoor little dog who’s best friend is Salvador’s other dog, Porkers. Lucky is a little over than 2 years old now and still hasn’t been neutered yet. He is a ‘cry Baby’ Salvador mentioned. Lucky’s mom’s name is Coffee. Lucky also has a favorite game, it’s catch, he loves to play catch as a main sport.”

Pet Team of the Week 11: Sunny & Luna

“Luna is very playful kitten, energetic, but also a cry baby who cries to you for someone to satisfy her urge to be pet if there’s someone around. Sunny is a lazy kitten and could care less if you pet her or not but she does enjoy her beauty sleep. They were brought from Los Banos to San Jose and were separated from their mother and 4 brothers. At first, they were crying for their mom, but when time went by they soon became fond of their new owners. Now they’re 7 months old with a huge appetite.”

Pet of the Week 12: Squeaky
Merry Late Christmas- Squeaky (Rachael Bailey/for Lion Tales)
Merry Late Christmas- Squeaky (Rachael Bailey/for Lion Tales)

“‘Squeaky sits in the corner of his litter box and has fantasies of his next meal will be, because he is the most gluttonous pig I have ever met. He’s a short hair guinea pig. When he was adopted he was very shy and didn’t want to come out nor to be touched. Now after awhile, he loves being held and being pet, specially on his back,’ mentioned by Rachael Bailey. The reason he got named him Squeaky, is because when he gets held in the palm of people’s hands, he gets so overfilled with joy and he won’t stop squeaking until he gets put down.”

Short Pet of the Week 13: Lefty

Younger Henry Taylor and Lefty (Henry Taylor / for Lion Tales)
Younger Henry Taylor and Lefty (Henry Taylor / for Lion Tales)

“When Lefty was younger there was this one huge rottweiler, that was almost 3x the size of Lefty! Every time we took Lefty out for a walk he would always try to fight with the rottweiler, and ever time the rottweiler would ignore Lefty, because of the size difference. Until one day, after nagging, the large behemoth finally had enough and snapped back at Lefty. With the Large jaws it had, it grabbed Lefty and threw him about 5 feet far! Lefty, surprisingly, got back up looked at the rottweiler in their eyes and went back to barking at the rottweiler.”

Pet of the week 14: Kira

“One day Kira went outside with my other cat, (Kira is NOT an outdoor cat). She followed the other cat into a tree all the way to the top, and after awhile the other cat jumped down and landed on her feet with ease. On the other hand for Kira its her first time being in a tree, being outside if that, and she didn’t know how to come down and she’s uncoordinated and fat, so she got stuck in the tree. She soon fell out of the tree not landing on her feet like. She never went outside again.”

Pet of the Week 15: Winston

“My dog Winston is a Dotson, he’s 14 years of age and is the happiest animal ever. He loves being cuddled with and is very calm. One day when we went to the park, I went to the top of a hill to roll down of. After about three time rolling down that hill, he decided to race me to the bottom. So, I rolled down the hill once more, and he raced against me running down the hill. I was afraid that he might roll down or trip while running too fast. In the end he beat me and kissed me with lots of love.”

“Wrecksamillion is a ‘total pain in the butt 90% of the time, but he can be a sweetheart when he wants to be, by rubbing his face on yours.’ He has been known to purr really loud. He’s also a really good hunter, Wrecksamillion has really soft fur like you wouldn’t believe, along with him having eyes that are really yellow and noticeable to see in the dark, it’s really cool but can be frightening the first couple of times.”

Pet of the Week 17:  Callie

“Everyone always thinks pit bulls are super scary and dangerous, but that is absolutely not true! In fact, the day we got our kitten, Callie was actually the scared one, she was afraid of the little cat at the time. Pit bulls are not evil dogs, they’re actually extremely sweet and lovable dogs when you get to know them, and I think it’s time we changed the stereotype about pit bulls and give them the love they deserve.”

-Sara Griffin

Pet of the Week 18: Bonnie

Kyle Novak's Pug Bonny. (Kyle Novak / for Lion Tales)
Kyle Novak’s Pug Bonny. (Kyle Novak / for Lion Tales)

“Bonnie is somewhere around her late 30’s, in dog years that is, not in human years that is. That would be ridiculously awesome and unbelievable to some other people. She does have her moments where she’s playful with him and his family, he mentioned how Bonnie always wants play with him when he has a ball in his hands, Bonnie  begs until he just throws it.”

“Papaya enjoys eating more than his other birds and watches TV with Castulo. Castulo chose Papaya because of his cool, colorful feathers! Papaya didn’t learn how to fly till he was months old.”

“Hiccup spends much of his time competing at an elite track, he also enjoys teaching young riders how to start stadium jumping. This amazing horse has broken many barriers in front of him and is ready to take on whatever else life has in store for him.

Pet of the Week 21: Cookies

Cookies caught off guard. (Natalie Guevara/ Lincoln lion tales) )

She loves to be pet by anyone, even a strangers love makes her feel loved, but would most likely enjoy it from her owners. She likes to have the full attention from whom ever is in her presence.
