Last year there was no snow, so the fact that there is snow this year is a great thing! California is currently in a drought, as you all may know. There was a snow pack, which is when there is so much snow on the ground that it is compressed and hardened by its own weight. During summer when the snow melts it will fill rivers, lakes, and ponds.

The snow is so amazing to people in San Jose because it never snows here.  I had a personal experience around two years ago when I went with my family to Bear Valley, California and I went snowboarding and played in the snow.  My experience was so much fun and I can’t wait to go again.

Junior, Reyna Vargas, went to Reno, Nevada with her family in December 2015.  She got the chance to enjoy snow and explore Reno. She went on Friday the 25th and came back Sunday the 28th. It was her second time going to the snow. Her first time experiencing snow was when she was 12 years old.

Reyna explained that she is excited to go again next year because her family is already planing a trip since they had so much fun. The snow is a beautiful thing to see. If you haven’t been to the snow already, you should definitely go!

Reyna said “It was a good experience with her family and she was happy her sister Wendy Vargas and her wife Claudia Hernandez got to join us this year.”

“We went to the Casinos, sleighing, and we had a lot of good food. My family and I hung out in the hotel, it was so fun!” Reyna said.

Last year we did not get very much snow, so this was not able to happen and we did not get the benefit of getting water that we are need of. The snowpack is much higher than usually in places like Sierra Tahoe. Snow is very important because it takes apart of a natural flow.
