Track and Field Coach Robert Flores Named CCS Honor Coach for 2019!!

Long time Track and Field coach Robert Flores has been named CCS Honor Coach for 2019! Coach Flores has been coaching Track and Field for at local high schools for the past 49 years and here at Lincoln for nearly a decade. He is one of the best coaches in the area and has been the reason for Lincoln’s  recent success. Coach Flores says ” I wanted to thank you once again for nominating me for the CCS award. It was a great feeling to win this award for a sport that I love & I respect. I’ve met many great people along the way to 50 yrs of coaching. I have heard from former athletes and coaches congratulating me. Kevin I want to thank you once again for giving me the opportunity to coach at Lincoln. It has been very positive experience for me as well as the student athletes that I have met here at Lincoln.”

Coach Flores also had Marquis who is one of his former runners from Lincoln who ran at UCSB and currently competes in Denmark and has his own track related company reach out to him and congratulate him. Marquis said “Congratulations! You deserve and have earned this honor more so than anyone. You’ve helped propel not only my career but the career of so many other athletes. Thank you for all of the support and guidance both on and off the track. I only wish I had know about your honoring sooner to be there in person! Congratulations again and thank you for all the hard work and dedication you have given so many people. You are a blessing to the track and field community and have made it stronger. Know that your influence has gone far beyond yourself and your teachings are being passed on by all of the athletes you have coached.”

He will be recognized for this well deserved and long overdue honor at the CCS Championship meet on Friday, May 17 at Gilroy High School. Once again Congratulations Coach Flores on this great honor!!
