In the heart of North San Jose is a group known as Empire Seven.  Many know of this group through their art space known as “The Cannery.”  This gallery is on the corner of Empire and 7th street.  Artists featured in this gallery also have spray painted murals throughout the neighborhood.

The most recent piece added to this outdoor gallery is featured on the outside wall of a liquor store on the corner 1st and Taylor.  The store was victim to robbery one day after the mural was finished.  The artists, wanting to help the business owner recover money lost in the crime,  decided to reach out on social media and tell their supporters to patronize the business so that they could get back on their feet.  Within days, the shop made back the money lost during the theft.

Other murals featured in this gallery include a Native American piece on the Guadalajara Restaurant at the corner of 10th and Empire,  the “Sam and Poesia” piece on a laundry mat on Empire and 8th, a Cesar Chavez piece on Empire and 7th, and a mural on the Santos Market on 5th and Taylor.
