In past Halloween celebrations, many people have been hit by a cars, have gotten lost, been robbed and kidnapped. Many of these horrific events can be prevented this year so that you can have a safe and very fun Halloween.

Lion Tales has talked to some of its friendly neighbors and students in what they are doing to be safe. One neighbor said, “Even if you don’t plan on giving out candy to fellow trick or treaters, you should always leave your front porch lights on so that you can see who’s outside.”

Junior Moises Ruiz said, that he “always carry a flashlight and wear some bright clothing so that [me] and [my] little sisters can be visible at all times by people and by cars.”

Lincoln Lion Tales highly recommends that everyone who goes out trick or treating should carry their flashlights, keep their cell phones on, look both ways before crossing the street, and stay aware of your surroundings and possessions in crowded areas. Also you should know where you are at all times and avoid empty dark streets as they could be a serious danger to you and the people with you.

For those who are going to parties and not going to be home we suggest that if you have a dog keep it inside so that if someone does try to break in you will have someone protecting the house from the inside. Leave some house lights on so that people have the idea that someone is present and that the house is not empty. Keep anything that can be used to throw  out of reach from the front of the house so, that no one uses the object as a weapon or to destroy your property or others’.

This is a refresher of some safety procedures you should consider so that none of these horrible things happen to you. Lincoln Lion Tales wishes everyone a safe and very fun Halloween.
