“Doctor Who” 50th Anniversary Tribute: Day of the Doctor

The “Day of the Doctor” aired on November 23,2013. BBC America’s longest running show, Doctor Who, has been running since 1963. This 50th anniversary special was breathtaking with the decisions three Time Lords made.

The Time Lords were messing with their timeline, in order to save billions of Time Lords that were supposed to die in the “Time War” between the Daleks and the Time Lords. Time Lords are aliens that take form as humans. They have two hearts and can regenerate when they’re dying. The Daleks are an angry race of a alien squid that control a robot type of machine. This presents them with  higher authority, which causes them to have more control over humans. Along with their angry rattling voices, they have a disintegrating weapon which shocks someone, then disintegrates him or her into ash and dust.

With the help of the 11th Doctor’s companion, Amy Pond gladly suggests, “Why don’t you three Time Lords save Gallifrey?”  Gallifrey is the Time Lords’ planet where the Time War was going on the whole time. All three doctors make a risky decision between interfering with the timeline of their own course, and saving millions of women and children.

Which will they choose?

At the last second, as always, they decide to save Gallifrey and are successful. At this time, all Time Lords from all time periods had a sudden urge to help. With all great power reinforcing each other the 12th Time Lord is shown for a brief second.

The ending left us Whovians in suspense.  Will there be more of the 12th Time Lord?  Is this the end of “Dr. Who?”  Only time will tell.
