Second half Kickoff.

On Wednesday, February 12th, the boys Lincoln Lions faced off against the Santa Teresa Warriors. The game ended with a 1-0 score in favor of the Lions, which was a big step to help them improve their qualifications towards CCS. Lincoln has 3 games left in the season and has to win all 3 to have higher chances of attending CCS.

The game began with both sides trying to control the ball and make great passes to eventually score a goal and take their team on top. It seemed to be as if the Warriors were given it their all in the first half, and even seemed that they were going to score a goal first against the Lions. The defense, on the other side, was playing very well for the Lions which gave them hope to be able to win the game. Defense wins games, but also does offense because without offense there would be no one scoring or any of that. The half ended with a score of 0-0.

Halftime seemed to be helpful for Lincoln and in some way motivational to the team, the coach seemed to have strong words for the whole team and also what they had to improve to get a win.

At the beginning of the second half, Lincoln decided to play faster and more passing to the goalie area. Santa Teresa played slower and wanted to wait for that perfect chance to score a goal. As time passed, the Warriors got frustrated because the Lion’s defense was playing so well that they began to play dirty and commit many fouls in favor of the Lions.

One pass given to Edgar Lopez who was taking it down the right line touching the ball perfectly that it won’t go to long, waited and timed it perfectly to pass it in the area for Gabriel Torres to kick it in and score a goal to give the Lions a win, and also a closer step to attend CCS.
