Soccer is back! The preseason has already started for the boys and they’ve kicked it off with a win. Last season the boys had a pretty rough season, going from A league to B league, they’re in a whole new division now, but we wish them a great season this year.

On November 25th, the Lions won against the Willow Glen Rams, the score was 2-0. Both goals were scored by Senior, Juan Carrillo. One player from the Lincoln team, Sophomore Miguel-Angel Jimenez talked to us on how he felt about the game, ” I thought that they could’ve tried a little bit better, but other than that they played a pretty good game.”

On December, 5th Homestead hosted their Christmas Cup in which the lions lost 5-0. Tuesday, December 8th they played against Archbishop Mitty High School the score was 2-1. The following week after those devastating losses the Lions played their first home game against Pajaro Valley on December 10th, were they lost 2-0, and where their coach was sent off the field. On Saturday, a few days after that, they played their second game of the Homestead Christmas Cup tournament against Hillsdale with the score of 1-0, a win for the boys. This week on December 16th, the Lions lost against James Lick with the score of 3-1.

As the Lions are preparing to have a bounce back season there’s a couple things that they need to improve on. “I think we need to finish our games and finish strong. We always lack confidence in the final minutes and we seem that we can’t finish things but other than that we have a bright and big season ahead of us,” said Senior, Henos Tsegay.

This is only the off season the Lions may have started off a bit rocky but we wish them the best on their upcoming game against Central on December 19th and as well as their new season.
